How to use

What it does

Crontab is the syntax used on Unix-like systems to describe scheduled jobs. It has five fields: minute hour day month weekday. This tool parses any valid expression into a plain-language description and lists the next 5 run times (computed by stepping minute-by-minute for about two years). It also supports macros like @daily, @hourly, @weekly, @monthly and @yearly, plus a visual builder where you click values to compose the expression.

Example

Expression:

0 9 * * 1-5

means "run at 09:00 every weekday". The tool lists the next five weekday dates and times.

Field syntax

  • * any value
  • 1,15 a list, meaning the 1st and 15th
  • 1-5 a range
  • */15 a step, meaning every 15th unit

Everything runs in your browser and works offline.

FAQ

Q1.What is the difference between 0 and 7 in the weekday field?
In crontab both 0 and 7 stand for Sunday and are equivalent. This tool normalizes Sunday to 0.
Q2.What happens when both day-of-month and day-of-week are set?
Under standard cron semantics, when both fields are restricted they are OR-ed: the job runs if either matches. This tool follows the same rule.
Q3.Why only the next 5 runs?
Listing the first five covers almost all scheduling checks. The engine scans at most about two years to avoid hangs on extreme expressions.
Q4.Is my expression uploaded?
No. Parsing and run-time computation happen entirely in JavaScript inside your browser, and it works offline.
