How to use

What it does

Hand the tool an image that contains a QR code and it decodes it in your browser with jsQR, extracting the encoded text (a URL, plain text, contact info and so on). You can click to choose a file, drag an image into the dashed drop zone, or paste an image from the clipboard (Ctrl/Cmd+V).

On success it shows the decoded text and the coordinates of the four finder-pattern corners so you can confirm where the code was located. If the first pass fails, it automatically retries at 2x, 3x and 4x scale to improve detection of small or low-resolution codes.

Example

Upload a QR PNG that encodes https://devutils.example:

Decoded: https://devutils.example
Corners: (12,12) (188,12) (12,188) (188,188)

If no QR code is present, it reports "No QR code detected".

FAQ

Q1.Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded locally through a canvas in your browser; nothing leaves your machine. You can disconnect from the network and keep using it.
Q2.Why do some QR codes fail to decode?
Common causes are a blurry or very low-resolution image, an obscured or distorted code. Try a sharper picture or enlarge it first; the tool also auto-retries at larger scales.
Q3.Does it support barcodes?
This tool is built on jsQR, which is tuned for QR codes. Ordinary 1-D barcodes (EAN, CODE128 and similar) are out of scope and will report no detection.
Q4.What are the corner coordinates for?
The four finder-pattern corners mark the actual position and orientation of the code in the image, useful to verify the right code was read or to crop it in an automated pipeline.
