How to use
What it does
Convert between base 2, 8, 10, 16, 36 and 62. It is built on BigInt, so integers far larger than Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER convert exactly, and base 62 uses 0-9a-zA-Z (62 chars) — handy for short codes.
Example
Enter 255 with source base 10 and target base 16 to get 0xFF (with prefix on). Enter 0b1010 (source base 2) to target 10 and get 10.
Notes
- Inputs may carry a
0x/0b/0oprefix, which is detected automatically - "Uppercase" affects letters only for bases up to 36
- "Prefix" prepends the matching prefix (16→0x, 2→0b, 8→0o)
FAQ
Q1.Why can it handle very large numbers?
It runs on BigInt, doing digit-by-digit multiply/add and modulo, so it is not limited to 53 safe bits — thousands of digits convert exactly.
Q2.What is base 62 for?
Base 62 uses digits plus lower- and upper-case letters (62 chars) to represent numbers, packing a larger value into a shorter string. It is common for short links and codes.
Q3.Does uppercase apply to base 62?
It can, but it changes the meaning: in base 62 case matters because the chars have different values. Uppercase therefore only affects letters for bases up to 36, to avoid ambiguity.
Q4.Is my data uploaded?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser.
